RESIDENCY TRAINING PROGRAM

Fellowship in Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery

The Division of Neurosurgery at Dalhousie University is offering a one year Clinical Fellowship in Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery. All functional neurosurgical procedures for Atlantic Canada (population 2,500,000) are performed at the QEII Health Sciences Center/Dalhousie University.

Fellows will participate in the evaluation and treatment of patients with a broad range of functional neurosurgical disorders including:
· movement disorders
· angina
· complex pain
· epilepsy
· spasticity

Fellows will have training in different techniques including:
· Deep brain stimulation, with and without microelectrode recording
· Neurotransplantation
· Spinal cord stimulation
· Intrathecal therapy
· Ablative procedures
· Selective mesial temporal resections
· Extratemporal resections for epilepsy
· Vagus nerve stimulation

Candidates must have completed their neurosurgical training and be eligible for licensure in Nova Scotia. Interested candidates should send two letters of reference along with their cover letter outlining why they wish to study stereotactic and functional neurosurgery to:
